Meet with Ethan
It is my goal to speak with representatives of schools, parents, businesses, and extra-curricular programs in McDowell County . I want to hear everyone's concerns and goals. I will be more than happy to sit down with anyone who wishes to speak with me on any and all school issues. My issues are where the community stands as a whole. If you want to meet, contact me. I will set up a meeting and be happy to discuss any issues openly with you.
I want to do this right, right from the start.
"Do it right!"
- This means exactly what it says. In all things we do, it must be done right. Take the leadership role of School Board Representative of West Marion School District and do it right, the first time. Be a leader and spokesperson for the children, teachers, and parents at the highest level of in education in McDowell County. In all things my mission is to make the overall quality of life better for all involved in public schools in McDowell County. I am not running for a status or for popularity. I am running for office because I have the knowledge, resources, and experience to make our school system the best it can be for everyone. It is not just about one single issue or another. Raising children takes a community. As a school board member, I will be a leader of that community and this is not a role I will take lightly.
This is the first election that West Marion will ever have a representative specifically designated to their district. Thank you for your support as we begin this endeavor that promises to be the most important school board election in many years for all school districts involved within McDowell County.

What matters to you. Be it the teacher, student, parent, or concerned citizen, we all have concerns about our public education system. The most important focus of my campaign is that we focus on issues that matter to all of us. Finding a middle ground that helps everyone involved and still creates a productive classroom environment that drives graduation and success rates up.

Why is School Board So Important?
For those who do not know, school board is the governing body of elected officials who represent you. School board is the committee that makes decisions on everything the school system does on a daily basis.
The school board is responsible for everything from choosing the text books made available to students to evaluating the Superintendent. All events, such as building a new school, (like Old Fort) must be voted on and accepted by the school board first. They often approve field trips and oversee the hiring and firing of school system employees. The school board is involved in everything that affects your children during school hours, and sometimes at home as well.
