MEET ETHAN
Parent, Coach, Educator, Leader, and Friend
Hey everyone,
My name is Ethan A. Boyles, or Ethan Alan Boyles, I am a West Marion Panther Alumni and Graduate of McDowell High. Among this, I am also a Western Piedmont Community College Alumni, an alumnus of NCASC, (North Carolina Association of Student Council) and a semi-retired Referee for NCYSA (North Carolina Youth Soccer Association). I have been involved with the school system and with politics for over 18 years in one way or another.
I have a passion for education and helping children that runs deep in my family heritage. I am the son of Mr. Alan Boyles, who worked for McDowell County Schools for 31 years, and Mrs. Michelle Boyles, who worked for McDowell County Schools and in early childhood development for over 25 years combined and continues to do so to this day. I grew up in the classroom and when I graduated McDowell High, I did not leave.
I started substitute teaching and coaching soccer in middle schools at 18 years old. I also substituted and volunteered to coach at McDowell High school for soccer briefly as well. I have been a servant of the community through the YMCA soccer program and McDowell County Schools for many years now.
The things I am interested in outside of schools are as follows.
-Family
My wife works for McDowell County Schools. I have a daughter in 4th grade and a son that will be attending Kindergarten in the fall of 2020. They all love sports and outdoor activities, and they love Uno Attack.
My daughter is also a 2019 Southeastern Regional Champion in Karate under the Sakura Ryu style which focuses on Discipline, Honor, and Respect. We are members of the Robinson Martial Arts program located on Main Street in Marion, NC. My daughter is also very interested in Motorsports and is not afraid to turn it up on a dirt bike when she needs too.
My Son is an avid auto racing fan and learned to count from by the numbers on race cars. He is also very interested in Karate and Soccer. He has a creative mind and loves to build things outside
We are a very active family and love to be outdoors.
- Work
I have a business called Design Garage. (www.designgaragenc.com) Which is a graphic design business that specializes in signs and t-shirts for community events and local businesses. I also work part-time at Baxter Healthcare on the weekends in a lower level leadership position. I am blessed to have a career I can be proud of and lucky to know what I do makes a difference.
- Leisure Activities
I enjoy auto racing of all forms. I am passionate about being outside any chance I get. I like to go hiking and camping as often as we can. I truly enjoy rock climbing. I grew up playing soccer and I am proud of my family history in the McDowell County soccer community. I am even more proud of my children who love to play and desire to continue this rich family tradition.
I am always up for an outdoor adventure with my family. We never vacation in the same place twice (we usually take a tent) and I love to take road trips to nowhere when we have the time. (I support field trips) I still attend NCASC (North Carolina Association of Student Council) events as an alumnus whenever I can. (If you have a kid involved in student government in middle school or high school, this is an organization they would love too)
